If you've watched some of my earlier vlogs or if you follow me on twitter, you will know about my love for nail polish, or more specifically, painting my nails. I find it fun and relaxing, it's something I look forward to and I really enjoy taking some time out to paint my nails. The end result is always colourful and nice to look at, and when I'm bored, I can remove it and start all over again.
Books and polish are two of my favourite things and this year I have started doing book manicures, painting my nails to match whichever book I'm reading. Some covers just scream out to me for a mani to match and I thought I'd share the ones I did during 2012.
A Temptation of Angels by Michele Zink
Mercy by Rebecca Lim
Glow by Amy Kathleen Ryan
A Corner of White by Jaclyn Moriarty
Shadows by Paula Weston
Quintana of Charyn by Melina Marchetta
Beauty Queens by Libba Bray
Scarlet by A.C Gaughen
What's Left of Me by Kat Zhang
Beautiful Redemption by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl
My Life and Other Catastrophes by Rowena Mohr
Lovestruck Summer by Melissa Walker
And that's my year in book manis! My favourite is Glow, that was a lot of fun to do and took the longest as well. I know there are more book manicure and nail polish fans out there, like Rey and Cristina, but if you are too, let me know!

OH. MY. GOODNESS. You are my idol. That is all.
But seriously, I LOVE painting my nails, but I'm not THAT patient to do such elaborate designs!! That's so freaking awesome. :))
Gosh, that is beautiful, Mandee! I'm so untalented when it comes to art of any kind, so I truly appreciate the time and effort you take. Also, your designs are so cute! I love this, dear! I've seen Rey's before, which are also amazing, so it's so exciting that you do yours too! :D
That is freaking cool! It must take you ages to do that to your nails.
So totally awesome...I wish I could do that but I can barely paint one color on my nails and not have a huge mess...I am a total klutz who can barely hold the brush straight especially left handed!
OMG! That is really awesome! I love how it matches, that just, I'm mind-blowned! XD I love it, it looks gorgeous!!! <3 And there were some books that just are screaming for me to read them.
Jaw dropping—all the more so because you did them on yourself!
(I'm assuming you've already seen Pages & Polish? http://pagesandpolish.tumblr.com Also, you should make these manicures a regular(ish) feature because ugh, so amazing.)
WOW. What a creative and awesome idea! LOVE it. My nails pale in comparison.
I seriously love Glow. If I could do my nails this well, I'd totally paint them more. Alas, I cannot, and it would take a lot of money to have someone else do it! You should feature these more often. Love it.

Whoa! How did you do all of those? Your nails look so amazing.
You should totally make a book nail tutorial post! Actually *please* make a tutorial post. I would love to watch and figure out how to do such pretty and gorgeous designs. I actually asked my friends to get me nail polish for Christmas so maybe I can start experimenting with those. ^-^
Wow, that is SO cool! I don't have the time or patience do my own, but looking at yours I sure want to! Unfortunately mine never turn out very good. I have to get it professionally done to look even half that good. And I love how you make them match the books, awesome idea!
Now THAT is awesome!
WOW! That is so awesome! I do not have the time, patience, or talent to even think about doing this. My nails always come out so sloppy whenever I paint them. I bow down to your awesomeness! :)
I LOVE THIS.
Very cool! Love the one for Glow – gorgeous mix of colours and it matches the book so well!
I LOVE this Mandee!! You do such an amazing job with polish! I love the one for What's Left of Me and Shadows. Did you learn from a professional to do this? It looks like professional work. :)
Oh wow! I love these Mandee! :)
My favorite is the one for Glow and Mercy!
That's so awesome! I can barely manage to paint my nails without painting my whole finger as well! and you matched the colors and themes so well!!
:D
This is the point where I once again say how much I LOVE your book manis! They're all gorgeous, I can't wait to see what 2013 brings! :D
That is awesome. I enjoy nailpolish and painting my nails too, but I'm usually way too lazy to take it off again, so I don't do it as often as I'd like.
MANDEE!!!! Eeeeeee!!!!! These are so frickin' awesome and gorgeous and quirky and right now, I'm throwing every word that is along the lines of 'amazing' at you! I don't really paint my nails (school) but when I'm a little older and am free of glaring teachers, I have to try this! I love the idea of a bookish theme ^.^ My favourite is the Glow one too - all the pretty purply colours <3 The Beauty Queens and Lovestruck Summer designs are super pretty too!
Thanks for sharing this with us and thanks for adding our blog to your sidebar! I have added Vegan YA Nerds to ours as well :D
Ah your nails look gorgeous! This is so creative Mandee! I love it! I can never get my nails to look that good. I have a really shaky hand when I try and paint them...and then they are chipped within the hour. Guess that's the price to pay to work with horses haha! :D This is so awesome. I can't wait to see what you do for this year! I don't think I could pick a favorite--they all are so pretty!
I think the ones for Glow and Blowout SUmmer are my favorites.
Happy reading,
Brandi from Blkosiner’s Book Blog
Oh wow, you're AWESOME at doing your nails! I love all the designs you came up with - they truly seem to match the book covers ;)
Love love LOVEE. What a creative and fun post :D Loved the nails for the Marchetta book xD
I didn't know you did that! A friend of mine does the same thing and is always posting them on FB. She does designs on there too like you did with Scarlet and that knife. I could never do my nails that well. Maybe if I practiced a lot but I doubt it. I think Glow and Quintan of Charyn are my favorites (:
Oh wow, this is such a cool post! I love the nails from What's Left of Me! The colors are awesome.
And I'm always really happy to see others using Zoya polish! They're such awesome polishes, and such a great company.
Great nails! It's a really clever idea!
I seriously didn't realise Jaclyn Moriarty's book had come out! I shall be ordering it straight away! I love her so much!
Glow's my favourite mani too :)
Holy hell, Mandee, those are phenomenal! I commented on Twitter yesterday without the faintest idea that painting nails is a huge hobby of yours, but now that you posted this I get to fully appreciate your talent! Such intricacy and attention to precise details is beyond me... Gorgeous, just gorgeous! I'm in love with Quintana, Scarlet, Beautiful Redemption & Lovestruck Summer. :)
Oh my gosh I love your book/nail combos! I wish I didn't bite my nails because then I could have them done up all gorgeous like yours! But alas...I always return to munching on my nails....le sigh...
Ahhh Mandee, these are GORGEOUS! I love painting my nails as well (but I haaate removing polish, ugh) but mine are never this beautiful! Wow. I'm trying to pick a favourite but it's getting tough! Maybe Glow and What's Left of Me? I would definitely be up for more of these posts! :)
My goodness! You are so talented, Mindy. I could never do such a lovely job. I think my favorite is Mercy. I can't wait to see more lovely manis in the future!
These are so amazing! I love the Scarlet set
Wowza! They are really awesome painting nail skills.
I mean, I could never be that good. I'm terrible at just plain painting. You certainly have a skill. And the patterns match so well to the book covers.
I love it. So very quirky, Mandee!
YOU ARE SO AWESOMEEEEEE! And I thought I was doing pretty good when I finally figured out how to paint my nails read without turning my entire finger a light shade of pink as I tried to remove all my mistakes. Dang girl. Make this a regular feature on the blog!!
Your nails are amazing! I used to love doing my nails but stopped buying nail polish a few years ago and only occasionally do them now! You almost have me inspired to take the time to go and do them now - just one colour though!
Ahhhh these are ALL so pretty!!!! I went through like 3 times to pick a favorite but it was a tough call ;) I think I especially like the Mercy nails, the Glow nails & Lovestruck Summer because the colours are so fun :D
Thanks for sharing your art Mandee ♥
You are the coolest person ever! I'm a huge fan of nail art, but I've never seen someone do book-themed ones! I'm super duper jealous.
Wow, they look amazing! I looooove nail polish but have no idea how to do any sort of design - you matched your nails to the covers perfectly.
OMG you seriously rock! I can barely paint one coat without screwing up. LOL. I think Glow is my favorite too. So prettty!
You have such cute nails. I love this. I can't do my nails to save my life. I always smudge. I always end up chipping. It's awful. BUT OH MY GOD CUTEST POST EVERRRRRR.
Ok...this is the coolest thing EVER!! I am obsessed with nail polish and books, but I never thought to combine the two. My favourite is Glow, but I love them all. So much inspiration right now.
